THE VORTEX METER OF CHOICE
Since the late 1970’s, the Vortex direct steam flow meters have been acknowledged as the industry standard for direct steam flow measurement.
The principle behind Vortex measuring is highly suited towards the measurement of compressible fluids such as gases and steam. With no moving parts and a liner relationship with flow the technology provides a highly reliable and accurate way to provide direct measurement of compressible mediums.
Central Station Steam offers two versions of our Vortex flow meters. By employing different technologies for picking up or measuring vortices Central Station Steam has the ability to provide a wider range of application and better solution to the end user needs.
Central Station Steam currently offers two versions of Vortex meters:
CV-U:
Our CV-U Vortex meter employs the use of Ultrasonic sensing technology, which mount just down stream of the shedder bar assembly and provide high sensitivity on the lower end of the operating range, extending the meter's ability to measure at much lower flow rates than other sensing technologies. The Ultrasonic Vortex meter is ideally suited to low pressure steam (75 psig or less) and all types of gases. The meter is available in wafer style process connections for 1/2" through 4" and insertion style as shown in illustration above in pipe sizes ranging from 4" through 72". Mass electronics are available as an option, which will provide a compensated display and output from the meter. For more information on this meter click on the Ultrasonic Vortex illustration above or the Ultrasonic Vortex Tab on left of page above.
CV-HS:
Our CV-HS Vortex meter employs the use of Piezoelectric crystals as sensors, mounted in the flow body downstream of the shedder bar. The Sensors remains out of the flow stream, by machining from the outside in, leaving a thin portion of body material (316L SS), between the process and the sensor. This provides a more sensitive meter for low end flows and allows the use of piezoelectric crystals in an insertion style design. This sensing technology is ideally suited to larger sized lines 6" and above and medium range steam pressures (75-150 psig). Meter is available in wafer style process connections for 3/4" through 6" and Insertion style 2" through 48". Mass electronics are available as an option, which will provide a MASS compensated display and output from the meter. For more information on this meter click on the HS Vortex meter illustrations above or HS Piezoelectric Vortex Tab on left of page above.
CV-P:
Our CV-P Vortex meter employs the use of Piezoelectric crystals as sensors, mounted in the upper portion of the shedder bar out of the flow stream. This sensing technology is ideally suited to high pressure saturated and superheated steam with pressure (up to 900 psig), temperature (up to 650° F), and high velocity (approaching sonic). Meter is available in wafer style process connections for 1/2" through 4" and flanged style as shown in illustration on above, in line sizes ranging from 1/2" through 16". Mass electronics are available as an option, which will provide a MASS compensated display and output from the meter.
